The Most Common Tech Scams
Scammers are more active than ever in 2025 — and their tricks are getting smarter. Here are the scams we see most often when assisting BRCHCS clients.
1. Fake Tech Support Calls
Scammers pretend to be “Microsoft” or “Amazon” and claim your computer is infected. Tip: No real company will ever call you about a virus.
2. Email Phishing
Emails that look real but aren’t — often claiming password problems or package delivery issues. Tip: Never click links in unexpected emails.
3. AI Voice Scams
New in 2025: scammers use AI to mimic a loved one’s voice asking for money. Tip: Always verify with a second method (call back, text).
4. Fake Antivirus Pop-Ups
A loud warning appears saying “YOUR COMPUTER IS INFECTED!” Tip: Never click — close the browser and restart.
5. Package Delivery & Banking Scams
Texts claiming your package is held or your bank account is locked. Tip: Contact the company directly through their official site.
